half-cooked, half-alive.

Have you heard of the new dish that's appearing in restaurants in Beijing/Taiwan? (I can't remember which.) They are eating half-cooked fish. Read: Cooked body, live head.
Yes. When the fish is presented to the lovely, kind-hearted restaurant patrons, the fish's lips are still moving, its head slimy and wet, like any other LIVE fish. But look further down, and you find that the body of the fish is cooked, like any other COOKED fish.
Do you want to know how they cook this barbaric, heartless culinary wonder? The chef first prepares the water/oil/whatever-it-is-they-use-to-cook-fish to boil, then grabs the live fish by the head, and dips its body up to where-they-don't-want-it-cooked into the boiling water. The head, grabbed by the chef, is still very much alive and struggling, while its body writhes and cooks. Within minutes, the body of the fish is cooked. The chef places it on a plate, garnishes the dish. The fish has no choice but watch through glazes eyes--- it can't move, because its muscles are COOKED.
So the waiter brings it out, bringing the fish with its lips still moving. The fish is then subject to the torture of people picking through its flesh. Until its lips stop moving and there is no more life in its eyes.
Let us celebrate the creation of such a mouthwatering dish.

You might say that it isnt very different from eating live octopuses (Japan) and bugs (Tribes). But, oh, there IS a difference. Those creatures die a fast, quick death. People don't normally chew half a live opctopus, play around with it in the mouth, before finishing the whole thing.
But the fish--- it has to go through the feeling of having half its body being cooked, and then watch as chopsticks pierce its flesh. Imagine that you, somehow, wind up with some cannibals. Would you rather they kill you, then eat you, or would you rather have them cook your legs and watch, helpless, as they slice your flesh and eat it?

The people who invented the dish are disgusting, barbaric, ruthless, heartless monsters. Eating monkey's brain while the monkey was alive was bad enough. They had to continue expressing their creativity. Monkey's brain, turtle soup, swallow nests, shark's fin, half-cooked fish--- what next?
Funny how all these normally involve ruthless, cold-blooded actions which left creatures, living beings helpless. For instance, shark's fin. Fishermen catch sharks alive from the sea, cut off the fins so treasured by people for no reason, and throw back the rest of the shark in the sea, still alive.
There are actually many good reasons not to eat shark's fin. It's bad for your health, by the way. And expensive. Aren't Singaporeans supposed to be stingy about spending money? The money could bloody well have gone to charity or for some other good cause. And I cannot stand people who say "Since it's here, why not just eat it" at dinners where there's sharks fin.

I don't understand how people can eat the flesh of a fish whose lips are still moving, and not puke.
