third august. drama night. the xinmin story. lanterns never go out.

yes yes, it was two days ago. so this is belated and all. heh.
well anyway.

ON THE SALES OF TICKETS:
only 35 people bought tickets for 3rdAugust. and they were supposed to sell 1000.
so, they make everyone from sec1 to 3 go. but still, there were people who still didn't want to go. how sad.
moral: people do disastrous things when desperate. (also; read next section)

ON THE AUDIENCE DURING THE PERFORMANCE ITSELF:
heard that at first the audience very noisy. (during laneterns)
maybe cos lanterns is quite very abstract, and the audience are dumb people who can't appreciate art.
but then again, they were sort of 'forced' to go. seriously, since the audience didn't express interest in going in the first place, isn't it sort of expected how they will turn out? noisy and irritating?
in the end, the audience stopped their racket. heard that someone scolded them. or someone started walking around.

ON THE CHOIR:
they needed people from choir to help sing some of the xm story songs. so yes, a group of people came forward and helped (them sing and record some of the songs -- the whole xmstory is pre-recorded.)
and then?
1. there was some rehearsal on 1st august. and it started at 6. SIX. at first they told us that it would end at 7.30. so okay. we wait and wait until 8. then we asked if we could go for dinner first. and guess what they replied. they said: you can go home already. and from 6 to 8 we didn't do anything. zilt. zero.
2. during the rehearsals at kallang theatre, we literally did nothing. we were only told our cues to go out and our positions and etc on third august. and third august means "after we had done nothing at KT after some time".
3. if you bothered to buy 'The Xinmin Times', turn to page 3. you will realise that they don't credit the choir.
interpret for yourself how they treat the choir.

ON THIRD AUGUST (ON THE WHOLE):
this whole thing is so last-minute. xmstory only cast the characters one week before the performance itself. on the day before the performance, changes were still being made.
lanterns is even better than xmstory, though its not the 'key' thing to the drama night.

turn to page 4. look at the picture on the top left hand corner, and laugh your self to death.
